NWISA Spring 2021 Update

With many programs returning to the water full time this week, it's time for an update on what to expect this spring season on the NWISA level.

First, recent developments have led to some updates and changes in our return to play plan (see below). This is our roadmap to a successful restart, thus NWISA expects every program leader/coach to ensure their team (and my events) abide by these guidelines:

NWISA Return to Play Plan - Spring 2021

A short summary of the 3-14-2021 update to this document:

  • Addition of Phase 3 WA guidance
  • Removal of 4 team limits for district championships
  • Updated host guidelines and regatta rulings

Our two district-wide regattas this spring will be our district championships. Until then NWISA will focus on regional regattas and small scrimmages to restart competition.

Team Race Districts will be hosted by Olympia on April 24-25, 2021

Fleet Race Districts will be hosted by Bellingham on May 8-9, 2021

In order to be considered for inclusion in either or both district championships, coaches/team leaders are expected to have pointed conversation with their team, sailors, and parents about support and willingness to travel and compete at these venues (and potential at the national venue). Once there is assured consensus complete the google form below. Teams that do not complete this form by the deadline will not be eligible to attend districts.

NWISA 'Intent to Compete' form (DEADLINE April 9th at 1700)

Additionally, all active teams please register your school(s) here for the 2020/2021 season. Schools must be registered and payment received by the April 9th deadline in order to be considered for inclusion in our 2021 district championships.

Above all else, we hope all teams will safely get the majority of their sailors back on the water this spring and consider attending regional scrimmages or regattas and we'll see some of you at districts!
