NESSA Spring 2021 update

And last night (3/11), the NESSA ExComm votes to adjust the NESSA schedule (see below).

  • Given the logistical difficulties most schools expressed in adhering to state, local, and school rules and the challenges of finding suitable venues to host large regattas, there will be no NESSA Championships (O'Day, Teams, Herreshoff) this year.
  • In their place, NESSA will conduct national qualifying regattas for those schools that are able attend a national regatta,
  • Furthermore, NESSA will support state and league competitions in late May as a culmination of what will be a different type of sailing season.

There will be a chance to ask questions at the NESSA Spring Planning Meeting Thursday March 25, 2021 at 7 pm.

  • Registration Form:
  • Please fill out the registration form by noon on 3/25.
  • The  ZOOM link will be sent directly to those who registered.

ISSA Regattas

NESSA Regattas (new spring 2021 plan)

 Baker qualifier (May 14-16).

  • This regatta is ONLY for schools that could attend the Baker.
  • A series of 4-6 school knock out meets at different in state venues to leads to two representatives from the list of schools that are able to travel to the Baker.
  • NESSA WONT purchase tickets to the Baker this year; schools will have to figure that out on their own.

 Mallory qualifier (May 22-23)

  • This regatta is ONLY for schools that could compete in either the Mallory or P King.
  • Regattas done within each state (CT, RI, MA, ME/NH/VT).

State/League regattas (May 29-30)

  • Coed fleets, Girls, Teams.  Each league decides on a format that works for them and run something this weekend.
  • This changed format is easier to adapt to the evolving conditions and keeps more schools engaged at the level they are comfortable with until the end.
