Healy & Cressy Update

HEALY: Updates on the NESSA Singlehande championship.

  • Resumes sailors:  The NESSA VPs have decided to accept all resume sailors.  Therefore, everyone in the List of Registrants is able to compete.
  • Logistics: All information regarding the Healy can be found on the HEALY Regatta page.  When you click on that site, you will notice that the Regatta Chair as added an amendment to the NOR.
  • Other Documents: High School sailing is making a concerted effort to follow the US Sailing directive to make Notices of Race and Sailing Instructions shorter, simpler, and easier to understand.  The ISSA NOR template has often repeated rules that are in the General Conditions, Cressy Conditions and or the ISSA Procedureal Rules.  Everyone is urged to review these documents prior to arriving at the regatta site.  Even those of us who have been doing this for a while can benefit from a review as some documents changed in January 2021.
  • Tech Score:  While coaches will not necessarily need access to their Tech Score account for this regatta b/c there are no substitutions, this is a good time to access your Tech Score account, or if you are a new coach either (a) find out the access information from the person who had it last or (b) open your account - follow the direction on the bottom of the Tech Score page.  This is not an instantons process and requires action from the ISSA National Office in California.  If you try to do it on Saturday morning, you will get a response on Monday.
  • NESSA District Rules:
    • In accordance with Article L, 1400 on Thursday Sept 23, 2021 is the time to withdrawal without penalty.
    • In accordance with Article M, The Hotchkiss School is responsible for bringing the Healy trophy to the Regatta.
  • Questions regarding the Healy can be directed to either the regatta chair (Henry Millette) or the NESSA VPs (Jonathan Harley or Andrew Burr).

CRESSY UPDATE: Under the category of no-good deed goes unpunished, I tried to share the most updated information regarding the Cressy on my e-maul on Friday (9/17. see below).  Over the weekend that morphed.  Annapolis in November is out.  It looks like the Cressy to be held in the Miami. FL area either December 18-19 or right after the Orange Bowl Regatta.  I suspect that the number of Laser berths will still be reduced from 18 to 12.  NESSA sailors should expect 1 Laser berth at the Cressy.  If we get a second (or a third) that would be a bonus.  I know this does not help with logistics for families who qualify and I apologies for that.  It is my hope that this can be buttoned up soon.

Good luck to all who are competing this weekend,.  All my Best & Stay Safe.
