MISSA Spring Status April 2, 2020

Spring HS Sailing (and fall planning)

All spring 2020 interscholastic sailing is now officially cancelled. The decision was made last night by the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) Board.

The national championships scheduled for spring 2020 will be hosted by the same venues in 2021. The Foundry will now host the Mallory in May 2021 in Cleveland. Championship rotations for Baker and Mallory will be set back one year, so MISSA now will host Baker in 2023, not 2022.  In addition, ISSA district  allocations for the 2020-21 nationals will be the same as this school year, rather than using the normal formula. (So for next school year MISSA will again get four berths at Mallory and Cressy and two at Baker.)

We are now turning our attention to the fall schedule.  As always the draft MISSA planning schedule is available at tinyurl.com/missa-schedule.  The events highlighted in yellow are ones for which the host has not yet been selected. We had a March 31 deadline for bids to host these fall championship and district qualifier regattas, but I will extend that through this Sunday in case there are other clubs interested in hosting. The form to apply to host is on our website at https://missa.hssailing.org/about/resources
